Meet our doctor:
Dr. Jason Nguyen grew up in the Sharpstown area of Houston, Texas. After graduating from Michael E. DeBakey High School for Health Professionals, he attended college at the University of Houston. While at UH he earned the prestigious position of College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics Ambassador and was accepted into the Rice University/Baylor College of Medicine Medical Scholar Summer Program. The next summer Dr. Nguyen was accepted into the research program at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta where he conducted research in triglyceride levels in African Americans.
After graduating magna cum laude with a degree in Biology Dr. Jason Nguyen stayed in Houston to attend optometry school at the University of Houston College of Optometry. While completing his Doctor of Optometry degree, he took part in numerous clinical rotations. Dr. Nguyen worked alongside a corneal specialist and another optometrist where they diagnosed, managed, and treated advanced anterior ocular disease at Vision Quest and at the Eyecare of Greenville in the Dallas area. In his next rotation at San Antonio, he provided specialty contact lens fitting and gained valuable experience in managing patients with diabetic retinopathy and other advanced ocular conditions at the South Texas Veterans Affair Hospital, the University of Texas Health Science Center Ophthalmology Clinic, and the Texas Diabetes Institute Eye Clinic.
Upon graduation, Dr. Nguyen worked in a private practice at Today's Vision in southeast Houston where he gained valuable experience on full scope optometry including full therapeutic privileges. He is certified in the Treatment and Management of Ocular Disease and is licensed as a Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist. His professional areas of interest include specialty contact lenses, pediatrics, glaucoma, cataract, and LASIK co-management.
In his free time, Dr. Nguyen enjoys spending time with his family which includes his wife May, son Logan, daughter Jolie, and French Bulldog Gambit. He is also active in his church, at his local gym, and is a die-hard Texans, Rockets, Astros, and Dynamo fanatic.
